Introduction

Come master the techniques of shooting fashion and beauty in Budapest! Working with professional models Ria Fantastic and Boou Clette photographer Dan Tidswell will take you through the process of finding great locations and overcoming the different challenges outdoors photography brings in order to produce outstanding images for your portfolio.

This is a fast-paced workshop which emphasises the practical skills, teamwork (and fun) necessary to produce beautiful images on location. We will be travelling light and harnessing the contrasting historical and urban environments in Budapest, using a combination of natural light, reflectors and strobes to include dawn, sunset and evening shoots.

The Budapest Workshop 2019 will be an immersive experience unlike any other workshop out there. Our model Ria speaks Hungarian as fluently as she does English, so she will be on hand to help at any point in the process, whether with booking or getting around once there. You will not feel like a lost tourist in Budapest but like a knowledgable visitor!

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is aimed at amateur and established photographers looking to expand their skillset whilst producing beautiful images on location. Shooting in a busy city can be a challenging experience, this workshop aims to give you the confidence to overcome obstacles and ensure the success of your own location shoots in the future, as well as bring Budapest’s entirely new unique aesthetic to your portfolio.

About Budapest

Hands down one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Budapest is divided with the hilly, ancient Buda on one side of the Danube, and the flat, trendy Pest on the other. It is a cultural hub, with world heritage sites at every turn a very welcoming culture. The food is to die for, as is the wine. But perhaps best of all – despite all that it offers – Budapest is also one of the most affordable European cities.

“The pearl of the Danube is not only the best European destination, but it is also one of the most beautiful and safest cities in the world. Budapest offers the elegance of Paris, the architectural heritage of Vienna, the charm of Porto, Stockholm’s gentle way of life.”

Photography in Budapest

Budapest is an incredibly versatile and user-friendly city, especially when you have Ria on hand to take you to all the best spots. It is virtually untouched compared to most European cities, despite the fact that it is more accessible and affordable than most. Shooting in Budapest guarantees you an edge of uniqueness.

Equipment

You will need a digital SLR or Mirrorless camera to participate in this workshop. Lens choice is a personal preference, I like to shoot with a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm lens on location as I find the zoom range covers all scenarios.  All lighting equipment is provided on this workshop.

Inclement Weather

Dealing with random weather is all part of shooting on location and the shoot will go on. Ensure you bring clothing to cover all scenarios the weather really can change from Sun to rain and back again in the space of a few hours.

Styling

We want the images on this workshop to be extra special, to that end we prepare months in advance to source outfits that we know will look amazing at all of our locations
